Classes

The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai‘i makes its rooms available for various cultural classes including Chadō (The Way of Tea), kumihimo (Japanese braiding), and shodō/ shūji (Japanese calligraphy). Other Japanese cultural arts workshops are held at the Cultural Center periodically. Public announcements are made through the media and the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i publications. Chadō (The Way of Tea)
All tea classes are held at the Seikōan Teahouse on the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i fourth floor. Please call (808) 945-7633 Ext. 33 or email okihara@jcch.com for class schedules. Click “Facilities” for more information on the Seikōan Teahouse.

Kumihimo (Japanese Braiding)
A single workshop for braiders of all levels will be held on the second Saturday of every month from February through November in the 5th Floor Lounge.

All Levels Class: Second Saturday of each month
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (optional lunch break from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.)
Cost: $24 per session (non-member), $12 per session (JCCH member), paid to the Cultural Center prior to each class

All Shodō/Shūji classes are held in the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i fifth floor Lounge.
